Ulinzi Starlets were feted as champions of Women’s Super Cup League on Sunday 7 November 2021 after thrashing Thika Queens nine goals to eight in post-match penalties at Utalii Grounds in Nairobi.
This is after the two teams drew 1-1 at the final whistle in a game that was also a curtain raiser for the 2021/2022 Kenya Women’s Premier League, set to start on 13 November 2021.
Speaking after the victory, Ulinzi Starlets coach Lance Corporal Joseph Mwanza attributed the victory to thorough preparations and team discipline.
“We are delighted for bagging the this season’s trophy. It was not easy for a league that attracted 32 teams. I thank my players for staging a spirited fight against our worthy opponents since the tournament commenced to this far,” said the coach.
The team’s captain, Senior Private Neddy Atieno said they trained adequately before any game and extended her appreciation to the KDF leadership ,the coach, the technical bench, the management and their fans for the continuous support.
“It has not been a walk in the park, we had few buy took them positively. Going forward, we aim to battle it out at the Premier League Championship with other teams and we are ready for the task ahead of us,” said Spte Atieno.
