Kenya Defence Forces’ women’s handball team Ulinzi Sharks are the 2024 National Handball Super Cup winners after defeating Nairobi Water Queens during the finals of the tournament held on Sunday 11 August 2024 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Nairobi.
Sharks put up a spirited fight to break off from a 14-14 deadlock at half time, eventually winning the match 29-26. Following this victory, Ulinzi Sharks, who are also the current Kenya National Handball League Champions are set to represent Kenya at the Africa Club Championships set for October.
The tournament brought together the best six men’s and women’s teams drawn from the regular National Handball League 2023-2024 season.
The event also served as the handover ceremony for trophies for the just concluded 2023-2024 National League, with several Ulinzi players being feted for their exemplary perfomance.
Senior National Handball Federation officials led by the Chairman Francis Kinyeli as well as Officer in Charge Ulinzi Lieutenant Colonel Isaiah Ong’esa were some of the dignitaries who graced the occassion.
