STRENGTHENING KENYA’S TIES

Defence Cabinet Secretary (CS) Hon. Soipan Tuya hosted H.E. Henk Jan Bakker, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Kenya, at the Defence Headquarters during a courtesy visit.

Their discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between Kenya and the Netherlands, particularly in finalizing a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) to bolster collaboration in defence matters.

The Netherlands, a global leader in maritime and technology, has already partnered with Kenya in the shipbuilding sector through Kenya Shipyards Limited. Additionally, the Dutch government has supported peacekeeping efforts by collaborating with the International Peace Support Training Center (IPSTC).

Later, CS Tuya welcomed Mr. Cosmin Dobran, Director of the Peace, Partnerships, and Crisis from the European External Action Service (EEAS), to the Defence Headquarters.

In their discussions, CS Tuya reaffirmed Kenya’s dedication to regional peace and security and acknowledged the strong mutual relationship fostered through engagements in trade, diplomacy, and security.
