SECURING LIVES AT SEA

Kenya Navy Special Boats Unit (SBU) personnel stationed in Kenya Navy Base Manda Bay successfully rescued a capsized dhow named HUSNA on 30 March 2025 at around 0001 hours, off the Coast of Lamu.

The dhow, carrying five crew members, was en route from Mkowe to Pate Island, ferrying general shop supplies.
The SBU personnel safely rescued all five crew members . The dhow was then towed to a secure location, with no injuries reported.

This operation highlights Kenya Navy’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and securing maritime assets, showcasing the readiness to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies at sea with the highest level of professionalism and skill.
