On December 16, 2024, Dr. Patrick Mariru, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Defence (MOD), signed Performance Contracts (PCs) with the Heads of Department (HODs) for the Financial Year 2024/25. The signing ceremony, which took place at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi, highlights the Ministry’s commitment to achieving set targets within its departments. These contracts are intended to promote accountability and track progress towards achieving strategic goals.
This follows a series of recent Performance Contract signings led by His Excellency President Dr. William Ruto, who signed contracts with Cabinet Secretaries and other government officials. On December 3, Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Soipan Tuya also signed PCs with the PS, HODs, and Chief Executives of Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs) under the Ministry.
During the event, Dr. Mariru urged the HODs to diligently work towards meeting their agreed targets, stressing that their success directly contributes to the Ministry’s ability to support the brave men and women in the military. He emphasized that achieving these goals is crucial to fulfilling the Ministry’s core mandate of defending and protecting Kenya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
By signing these Performance Contracts, the Ministry of Defence is charting a clear path towards enhancing operational efficiency, accountability, and alignment with national development priorities.
