The Defence Principal Secretary Mr. Patrick Mariru has today hosted the Italian Space Agency (ASI) President, Prof. Teodoro Valente and his delegation from the Italian Government, for a meeting at the at Kenya Space Agency offices in Nairobi, Kenya.
This comes after a Joint Steering Committee meeting held in Rome earlier this year to explore areas of collaboration between Kenya and the Republic of Italy.
Mr Mariru is the Co-Chair of the Joint Steering Committee for the Implementation of the Bilateral Agreement between Kenya Government and Italian Government on the Management of the Luigi Broglio – Malindi Space Centre.
The meeting was convened to deliberate on the implementation of the Bilateral Agreement between the two countries.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Mariru reiterated Kenya’s commitment in strengthening the strategic collaboration between Kenya and the Italian Republic in responsible use of outer space for mutual benefit of the two nations.
On his part, Prof Teodoro expressed commitment in working with the Kenyan government, underscoring the importance of the partnership.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Defence and Kenya Space Agency.
