The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel from Embakasi Garrison, in collaboration with NCBA Bank, On 30th August 2024 planted over 1,000 trees at the Garrison grounds. This initiative aimed to enhance tree cover within the Garrison, aligning with the Commander-in-Chief’s tree restoration programme to mitigate the effects of climate change. It also supports KDF’s Environmental Soldier Program, which enables soldiers to lead in environmental security through planting trees, among other activities.
During the event, KDF Officers expressed their appreciation for NCBA Bank’s partnership, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with local organizations.
The Deputy Director of NCBA Bank, Mercy Kagwiri, highlighted the bank’s honor in partnering with KDF, noting that this collaboration exemplifies how public-private partnerships can drive meaningful and impactful change. She emphasized that working together allows both entities to accelerate progress towards a sustainable future.
Both KDF and NCBA Bank share a commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.
Through activities such as tree planting, KDF continues to demonstrate its dedication to securing Kenya’s future holistically.
The initiative aimed not only to combat climate change and improve quality of life but also served as a platform for the bank to train soldiers on financial well-being.
