PARTNERING WITH CONSERVATIONISTS IN THE NATIONAL TREE-PLANTING DRIVE

The Kenya Army Corps of Transport (KACT), in collaboration with Greens of Africa Foundation, the University of Nairobi and Diamond Trust Bank conducted a large-scale tree planting exercise at the University of Nairobi’s Upper Kabete Campus.

During the exercise, KACT personnel led by their Corps Commander Colonel Timothy Kwaram planted over 15,000 assorted tree seedling species across the expansive campus grounds.

While addressing the participants, Col Kwaram emphasized the strategic importance of environmental stewardship as a patriotic act of service.

“This is a noble intervention which is more than an environmental act; it is a patriotic duty to safeguard our country’s natural heritage for future generations,” he noted.

Leaders of the partnering institutions asserted these sentiments, lauding the initiative as a powerful symbol of rapport, shared responsibility and unity of purpose in achieving the desired level of environmental security.

The Ministry of Defence has institutionalized tree planting by dedicating every fourth Wednesday of the month to the cause, affirming its commitment to achieving the national target by 2032.
