OUR LADY OF HOLY ROSARY CHURCH HOLDS YOUTH MASS

The Kenya Defence Forces Roman Catholic faithful celebrated the Nairobi Deanery Military Youth Mass at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Embakasi Barracks on Sunday, 2nd March 2025.
The ceremony was presided over by the Bishop of the Military Ordinariate, Rt. Rev. Wallace Ngang’a, assisted by Father John Waithaka, the Parish Priest and Father Itumbi, the Youth Chaplain.

Bishop Wallace was warmly received by the General Officer Commanding, Eastern Command (GOC EASTCOM) Major General Luka Kuto, the Catholic Women Association (CWA, Catholic Men Association (CMA) and the Youth faithfuls. The Bishop officially opened the Groto of Mother Mary, which is a special place dedicated for prayer and quietness.

During the mass, he encouraged the faithful to be good ambassadors of Christ by emulating the life of Christ. He urged all to embrace each other with love and always regard each other highly, emphasizing that no one is perfect.

” It is crucial that we at all times acknowledge that we have shortcomings as individuals. Let us all examine ourselves deeply and seek forgiveness from God, before judging others”. He added.
Bishop Wallace urged the youth to be well disciplined and of positive value towards each other and develop a learning spirit while embracing the virtue of humility. He further encouraged parents to be present in the lives of their children and be good models in shaping their character, as they are the future generation that will shape the future of the nation.

He also presided over the launching of the 2025 Lenten Campaign themed “The Kenya We Desire“ the very first of its kind within the Kenya Defence Forces Catholic fraternity. The campaign aims to address the issues affecting the Catholic church including Family, Corruption, Youth and the Role of Holistic Education.

The event attracted over 200 youth from various units within the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) including Kahawa Garrison, Thika Barracks, Lang’ata Barracks and Moi Air Base. The Military Youth Mass is an annual event held to enable the youth network, share their challenges, and pray together.
The mass was also attended by the 8th Brigade Commander, Brigadier Banda, Senior Officers, Officers Service Members, and their families.
