MWAK LAUNCHES DIAPER DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM FOR KDF DEPENDANTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

The Military Wives Association of Kenya in collaboration with the Kingdom Bank on 23 May 24, launched a Diaper Distribution Program for KDF dependents with special needs at the Defence Forces Wellness Centre in Lang’ata Garrison.

The diapers donated by the bank will benefit over 200 KDF families across all regions for a period of four months. Representing the Chairperson MWAK, Mrs. Helen Omenda the Vice Chairperson, expressed her utmost gratitude for the great turn out which demonstrates dedication and enthusiasm towards the initiative. She further appreciated Kingdom Bank for the collaboration and unwavering support which made the program a success.

Subsequently, Mrs. Helen Omenda recognized the mental and financial difficulties that caregivers undergo while supporting the dependents. This initiative, she says, will give the parents an opportunity to take a load off in matters of diaper purchase for a while and focus fully on serving our country at different capacities.

“As MWAK, we have always put ourselves in the shoes of the parents and caregivers of these special children; we understand the fears and challenges that come with this position and we will keep working tirelessly to create awareness of this population and reduce the burdens through donations, service delivery and actions to improve the quality of life.”

On the same platform, The Kingdom Bank Head of Business Development, Mr. Alex Kasiki, noted that MWAK and the bank are united by similar values and mission to improve the lives of the vulnerable in the society. He reaffirmed Kingdom Bank’s commitment to stand by MWAK as it supports KDF families and children with special needs to ensure they receive the care and resources needed.

In attendance were Lang’ata Garrison Camp Commandant Colonel Masai, Colonel Edward Nyamao of Compensation and Welfare, Defence Forces Wellness Centre representatives, , KDF families with special needs dependents and MWAK members.
