The Military Wives Association of Kenya hosted the President of the office the Army Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Sujeewa Nelson, the spouse of Sri Lanka Chief of Defence Staff at the MWAK office in Nairobi.
In the bilateral talks led by MWAK Chairlady, Aileen Ogolla, the members discussed MWAK welfare programs and explored the possibilities of future collaborations.
Mrs. Sujeewa Nelson expressed delight over the warm reception from MWAK members and emphasized on the relevance of exchanging ideas for the betterment of both associations.
“I am thrilled to be in the midst of women whose focus is to build and support one another. From the achievements that you have made, I have identified areas that we can borrow to impact the welfare of our families back home.”
On the same platform, Mrs. Aileen Ogolla appreciated the visit noting that MWAK endeavors to build strategic partnerships which is among its core pillars since inception.
Other engagements included a visit to the Defence Forces Wellness Centre in Lang’ata Barracks where she met and encouraged patients as well as a ‘walk through’ to appreciate the facility’s capacity to deliver quality and efficient medical services to military personnel and their dependents.
At Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum, Sujeewa Nelson alongside her spouse General Shavendra Silva and the Sri Lankan Ambassador/ High Commissioner H.E. Kana Kananathan enjoyed a tour of Kenya’s its diverse culture and rich history from colonization.
In attendance were Colonel Edward Nyamao, Compensation and Welfare at the Defence Headquarters, Monica Tarus, Grace Amogolla, Regina Mulwa and Effie Kinuthia.
