On November 21, 2024, Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) Chairperson, Mrs. Grace Kahariri, hosted a meeting with representatives from Bethany Kids Organization. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the progress of their three-year partnership and devise innovative strategies for future goals.
Bethany Kids, an organization dedicated to providing quality healthcare to African children with special needs through services like pediatric surgery, rehabilitation, spiritual ministry, and training, has been a pivotal partner to MWAK. This collaboration has enabled MWAK to improve the lives of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) dependents with special needs, providing psychosocial support and assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walking aids.
Mrs. Kahariri emphasized that the success of this partnership stems from both organizations’ commitment to supporting children with special needs. By providing assistive services, they are empowering these dependents to lead more independent lives while reducing financial burdens on KDF families.
In alignment with its health pillar, MWAK aims to enhance the quality of life for KDF families with persons with disabilities (PWDs), with Bethany Kids playing a critical role. Outreach exercises conducted in 2024 at Langata Garrison and Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe provided KDF dependents with special needs with assistive devices and support from psychologists, resulting in numerous success stories.
Bethany Kids reaffirmed its commitment to the partnership and expressed interest in exploring additional ways to strengthen its collaboration with MWAK.
