On 14th July 2023, service members from Moi Air Base (MAB) gathered at the Athletics Detachment Camp in Ngong-Kibiko for a festive occasion to commemorate their recent accomplishments in various sports competitions. Leading the event was Base Commander of MAB, Brigadier Samuel Kipkorir.
The team from MAB comprised of 3 sporting discplines including; ladies netball team which emerged as runner’s up in the Bora Cup competitions, the men’s Football team (Spitfire) which is currently at the top of their league table and lastly was the MAB Athletics team which saw the men’s team finish 2nd in the KDF cross country competitions this year and the ladies team finishing 1st overall. Also celebrated was Senior Private (Spte) Rukia Nusra who was crowned the best athlete in KDF track field and events.
Speaking during the event, Brigadier Kipkorir expressed his gratitude to the team. He thanked God and everyone involved for making the day a success. He urged the sports men and women to keep high discipline and always work smart in improving in their sports.
“I’m a very proud Base Commander because I gave you our KAF flag and you represented us well. We are celebrating you for the good performance, you went out competed and you came back victorious . I’m proud of you and urge you all to be better in the sports that we didn’t perform well. Congratulations and thank you for bringing us the trophies” He added.
Present during the event were ; Deputy Base Commander MAB, Commanding officers, senior officers, officers, KAF sergeant major, Base sergeant major and Service members.
