The 2024 Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) Taekwondo Championship, held at the Moi Air Base (MAB) Gymnasium from Monday, August 26, 2024, concluded on 29 August 2024 with vibrant and fiercely competitive championship finals. The three-day tournament brought together top Taekwondo artists from across Kenya Defence Forces’ Brigades, Formations and Bases, all vying for top honours in taekwondo.
Moi Air Base emerged as the overall winner, followed closely by the Construction Engineers Brigade, who secured the silver medal, while the Armoured Brigade took home the bronze.
Athletes competed across various weight classes, including Flyweight, Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight divisions for both men and women. Each category saw intense competition, with martial artists demonstrating their mastery of kicks, punches, and defensive techniques.
Addressing the participants, the chief guest, Commander Kahawa Garrison, Brigadier Lilita Lenamunai, emphasized the essence of true victory. “As we celebrate the achievements of those who won today, let us remember that true victory is not solely measured by medals or trophies but is found in the courage to compete, the resilience to rise after each fall, and the humility to honor both your own efforts and those of your opponents,” said Brig. Lenamunai.
Base Commander MAB, Brigadier Bernard Oluoch also congratulated all the competitors, commending them for their discipline, dedication, and resilience. He further praised the teams for elevating KDF’s reputation on the national, regional, and global stage, underscoring the importance of their continued commitment to excellence in the sport.
