MILITARY ORDINARIATE OF KENYA CELEBRATES CHRISM MASS

The Bishop of the Military Ordinariate of Kenya, Rt. Rev. Wallace Ng’ang’a, presided over the Chrism Mass today at St. Peter & Paul Cathedral, at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.

The solemn celebration saw the blessing of the holy oils used throughout the year in the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Anointing of the Sick. The Bishop also led the priests in their renewal of vows. In his sermon, Bishop Ng’ang’a reminded the clergy that the day was not only one of remembrance but also of recommitment.

He encouraged the priests by affirming the Church’s gratitude for their service, reminding them that the faithful pray for them, and that Christ walks with them not only in moments of triumph but also in their quiet, daily sacrifices.

“As we continue through this Holy Week, may the sacred oils and the promises we renew today remind us that we are called not just to follow Christ, but to become living signs of His anointing in the world. May this Chrism Mass renew in us a deep awareness of our calling, and may we go forth anointed with purpose, “said the bishop.

The Chrism Mass is a profound liturgical event in the Catholic Church, traditionally celebrated during Holy Week. It underscores the unity of the Church through the sacraments and the shared mission of Christ’s followers, especially through the sacred act of anointing.
