MEDICAL RELIEF FOR RESIDENTS IN BARINGO COUNTY

Kenya Defence Forces troops stationed at Chesitet Military Camp in Baringo County, as part of ‘Operation Maliza Uhalifu’, collaborated with Medical Missions Africa (MeMA) to organize a one-day free medical camp at Adoket Adome. This collaborative effort aimed to address the healthcare needs of the local community and strengthen the relationship between the military and civilians.

During the medical camp, residents benefited from a range of services, including general medical check-ups, screening for non-communicable diseases, and outpatient treatment. Additionally, educational sessions were conducted to raise awareness about hygiene and sanitation practices, proper nutrition, the importance of antenatal care, clinic visits, and birth preparedness. These services and educational sessions were particularly beneficial for the predominantly women and children who attended the camp.

The medical team successfully treated more than 200 patients, the majority of whom were women and children. Beyond the medical services provided, the medical camp also served as an opportunity for the soldiers to engage with the residents. The interactions between the security officers and the community members were positive, with many expressing gratitude for the soldiers and MeMA for their efforts in maintaining peace and providing humanitarian support.

The free medical camp is among the Civilian Military activities conducted by the Multi-agency operation team in the North Rift, fostering good relations between the security officers and the residents in the operation area.
