KMA PARTICIPATES IN COMMUNITY SERVICE

On 15 November 2024, the Kenya Military Academy (KMA) staff and General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets from Intake 12/25, led by Colonel Eric Lovega, the Commanding Officer of the Cadets School, carried out their semester Community Service at Hope Patience and Joy Children Rescue Centre in Gilgil town.

KMA, a College of the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K), is mandated to train Officer Cadets for commissioning into the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the militaries of allied nations.

As part of this community service exercise, the cadets and staff donated food, a water tank, mattresses, sports kits, books, and various essential items to the centre.

The day’s activities included mentorship programs, tree planting, painting, and general cleaning. Medical personnel from the Kenya Military Academy also provided free healthcare services to the children.

This community service initiative is part of the Academy’s commitment to developing well-rounded officers by instilling values of service, leadership, and responsibility. It aligns with the Academy’s mission to serve as a centre of excellence in foundational officer training and education.

The event was attended by Lt Col Murimi, Commandant Officer Cadet of KMA Intake 12/25; Lt Col Esther Kahiri, Head of Research, Standards, and Character Development (RSCD); as well as Officers, Instructors, and support staff.
