Commandant Kenya Naval Training College (KNTC), Colonel Benson Karuimbo, led the opening ceremony for the Kenya Navy Basic Diver Course 03/25 on 24 February 2025, at KNTC grounds in Mtongwe, Mombasa.
The primary objective of the course is to equip Kenya Navy divers with the necessary diving skills and knowledge to enable them conduct special clearance operations that are critical to Kenya’s maritime safety and security.
In his address, Colonel Karuimbo encouraged the trainees to be dedicated, emphasizing the high level of responsibility placed on their shoulders to safeguard Kenya’s Maritime security. He reiterated the importance of teamwork, discipline, and continuous learning, stating that the skills gained during the program will be essential in their daily roles of protecting the nation’s maritime borders and contributing to regional stability within the Western Indian Ocean .
“I urge you to be dedicated , as you bear a significant responsibility in safeguarding Kenya’s maritime interests. Maintaining discipline throughout this training period is essential to your success,” said Colonel Karuimbo.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers , officers, and service members .
