The Kenya Defence Forces, today hosted the Egyptian delegates for the fifth Kenya-Egypt Joint Military Committee (JMC) meeting, to discuss various military matters, at Defence Headquarters, Nairobi.
The meeting aimed at shading light on matters discussed during the previous meeting held in Cairo, Egypt in 2022, provide a platform for the two teams to discuss on programs that will benefit both countries.
Speaking during the meeting, Chief of Strategic Planning and Policy, Brigadier Richard Mwanzia, said the meeting is a sign of strong, friendly, cordial and bilateral relationship between the two countries. He added that this relationship is important as it stretches back in the 60s, when Egypt supported Kenya’s efforts towards independence.
He highlighted the importance of the countries’ collaboration, that has been ongoing, especially in training which enhances capacity building which are crucial in regional security and cementing good relations.
Brigadier Mwanzia underscored the need for the continuous interactions and training in various fields including engineering, medicine, maritime security, Information Technology and other vital security related areas.
Brigadier General Mohamed Tofiq of Egyptian Armed Forces, expressed his satisfaction in outcomes of collaboration between the two countries and hoped that the meeting will result in fruitful and constructive discussions to support the bonds of friendship and enhance peace.
“ This meeting will support Egypt-Kenya relations at all levels, in a way that reflects and confirms the desire of the two countries to move towards strengthening our relations, especially in the field of military cooperation and pushing them in a way that will help achieve desired benefits,” he noted.
Present during the meeting were, Senior Economist Joseph Malonza, Senior KDF and Egyptian Officers.
