KDF STEPS TO ENHANCE WELL-BEING OF STUDENTS IN NORTH RIFT SCHOOLS

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating under Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) donated assorted items to Churo Girls High School in efforts to enhance and better the well-being of the girl child in order to improve retention, transition and performance in school.

The troops donated sanitary towels, clothes, stationary, volley ball kits and food stuff and in line with KDF’s Environmental Soldier Program the troops planted trees at the school forest in order to conserve the environment and actualize environmental security.

Speaking during the event, Lieutenant Cynthia Muthuku, noted that when girls are deprived of education it limits their opportunities making them vulnerable to exploitation.

Miss Sarah Chelangat, Principal Churo Girls High appreciated KDF’s effort in mentoring the girl child and ensuring their retention in school.

“We are very grateful for this donation, it comes in handy on health needs which in turn reduces school absenteeism, improve girls’ overall well-being and imroves their performances,” added Ms Chelangat.
