KDF STEPS TO ENHANCE LIVELIHOODS OF NORTH RIFT RESIDENTS

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating under Operation Maliza Uhalifu engaged in a series of Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities aimed at enhancing the quality of livelihoods of residents in the North Rift.

In Chesitet, KDF troops based in Chesitet Forward Operations Base (FOB) donated twenty bags of clothes to more than one hundred families in the area and also collaborated with Medical Missions Africa (MeMA) in a medicamp where more than one hundred and twenty families benefited from both curative and preventive medicines.

In addition, KDF troops based in Kainuk FOB through the Environmental Soldier Program joined pupils and teachers from Agape primary school in planting trees in order to conserve the environment and actualize environmental security.

Speaking during the event, Officer Commanding Kainuk FOB, Major M I Githui reminded the community how environmental protection is critical in mitigating climate change and urged them to take advantage of the current rainfall season which provides a great opportunity for all of them to engage in tree planting.

Elsewhere in Mukutani, KDF troops engaged the locals in a football match, donated foodstuff and a ball.
