KDF SQUASH TOURNAMENT FINALS: A SHOWCASE OF SKILL AND FITNESS

On November 14, 2024, Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Tarus officiated the finals of the 2024 Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Squash Tournament at the Defence Headquarters Squash Court. The tournament, held from October 7 to November 14, brought together 17 participants from across the Kenya Defence Forces’ three Services and civilian staff from the Ministry of Defence.

The tournament featured a round-robin format, where participants competed against one another, showcasing impressive squash skills.

Colonel Ole Katumpe emerged as the tournament champion, with Major Boniface Magut as the first runner-up and Mr. Daniel Ouma finishing as the second runner-up.

In his closing remarks, Lt. Gen. Tarus, himself a squash player, emphasized the sport’s benefits for soldiers’ health and fitness.

He noted that squash offers an intense cardiovascular workout that enhances physical and mental fitness, concentration, teamwork, and discipline. He further encouraged stakeholders to support the sport’s growth within KDF, advocating squash as a regular activity to boost service personnel’s well-being and readiness.
