The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, 0n 8th November 2024 led the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Formation Commanders during their annual conference in Karen, Nairobi.
The one-day event, themed “One Force, Mission Ready: Achieving Operational Efficiency and Strategic Capability Enhancement,” brought senior KDF leaders together to assess critical operational matters and discuss strategies to bolster KDF’s readiness in a rapidly evolving security landscape.
The conference offered a platform for Commanders, through various presentations, to address challenges affecting both national and global security, including climate change, cybersecurity, and terrorism. Discussions focused on devising solutions to emerging threats that could impact both military operations and national stability.
Opening the conference, General Kahariri emphasized the need for unity and adaptability among KDF Commanders, highlighting the evolving nature of the security environment. He stressed that in an increasingly complex global context, collaboration, innovation, and resource efficiency are critical to maintaining operational readiness.
“KDF must remain innovative and proactive, maximizing operational efficiency while minimizing resource usage,” stated General Kahariri, underscoring that both the government and the Kenyan people have placed great trust in KDF’s role in maintaining peace and security. He encouraged Commanders to adopt a forward-looking approach and remain agile to meet both present and future challenges.
Among those who attended included Vice Chief of the Defence Forces, Lt Gen John Omenda, Commander Kenya Army Lt Gen David Tarus, Vice-Chancellor National Defence University-Kenya Lt Gen Jimson Mutai, Commandant National Defence College, Lt Gen Juma Mwinyikai, Commander Kenya Air Force Maj Gen Fatuma Ahmed, General Officers, and Senior Officers.
This annual conference is a cornerstone in strengthening KDF’s operational capabilities, ensuring mission readiness, and enhancing the force’s ability to adapt to new and complex security challenges.
