Kenya Defence Forces troops under the Multi agency Operation Maliza Uhalifu from Chesitet forward operating base in Baringo County, on Sunday,12 March 2023 conducted a free medical camp at Kapau, Turkana South Sub-county conjointly with medics from Medical Mission Africa (MeMA).
The exercise targeted consultation and treatment of various ailments, screening of non-communicable diseases and general medical check-up for young children under the age of 10. More than 150 residents benefited from the exercise, where majority were women and children. While addressing the area residents, Officer Commanding 12 Engineers Squadron Major D O Wema, urged the locals to cooperate with the security agencies to improve service delivery in the area. ” Gone are the days when locals could see officers and run away. Let’s maintain cooperation between the residents and security personnel to espouse more developments and services delivery. Partnership is very crucial.” he stated.
The area residents thanked the Kenya Defence Forces and MeMA for their perpetual efforts to ameliorate their livelihood and promised to continue supporting the security agencies in finding a lasting solution to the incessant banditry. The Multi agency team continues with the civilian military activities in the disturbed counties, in efforts maintain the good rapport between the local residents and security agencies to ease the ongoing operation in the North Rift.
