The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel from the Mechanised Infantry Brigade deployed at Wajir Forward Operating Base (FOB) for Close Operations led by the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Samson Kenga participated in a blood donation exercise in collaboration with the WAJIR County Referral Hospital
While addressing the troops, Lt Col Kenga indicated that humanitarian actions open an avenue for the troops to engage with the community. “Blood donation enables these troops to connect with the recipients, their families and the larger community”, he said.
Wajir County Referral Deputy Satellite Blood Bank Manager, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim Mohammed, thanked the Close Operation troops fraternity for their benevolent gesture and continued effort towards supporting the community. He further stated that the initiative will greatly boost the blood bank at the facility.
The donated blood will be used in the treatment of emergency and needy cases within WAJIR and its environs, towards bridging the gap being experienced in the hospital.
