JUSTIFIED ACCORD 2025 COMES TO AN END WITH DISTINGUISHED VISITORS’ DAY

The Joint Multinational Command Post Exercise (CPX) of the Justified Accord 2025 (JA25) held at the Humanitarian Peace Support School in Embakasi concluded on 20th February 2025. Distinguished Visitors (DV) comprising of the Vice Chief of the Defence Forces, Lt Gen John Omenda, Hon. Marc Dillard, the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, Major General Andrew Gainey, Commanding General of SETAF-AF, other high-ranking military officials, government representatives, and international dignitaries were taken through various briefings marking culmination of the exercise.

Planning Exercise (PLANEX) Commander, Col Dennis Obiero briefed the DVs on the crucial role it played in ensuring that multinational military operations are well-coordinated, strategically sound, and effective. He highlighted the role of planning in refining military decision making processes, strengthening alliances, and enhancing military readiness to make crucial component of regional security efforts.

The Vice Chief of the Defence Forces, Lt Gen John Omenda, stated that Justified Accord has long been a hallmark event. He said that it is an exercise that continues to strengthen operational capacities, military readiness, and interoperability of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) alongside regional and international partners. He emphasized that the exercise has become a cornerstone in collective efforts to enhance security cooperation and operational effectiveness, ultimately contributing to regional stability. As he addressed the gathering, he took a moment to extend his deepest gratitude to every participant, acknowledging their dedication and professionalism in making this year’s exercise a resounding success.

Hon. Marc Dillard, the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, stated that the primary goal of the exercise was to enhance multinational interoperability among the participating forces. Mr. Dillard highlighted the shared responsibility of maintaining regional security, stressing that the partnerships developed through Justified Accord would play a crucial role in shaping future crisis response efforts.

Major General Andrew Gainey, Commanding General of SETAF-AF, emphasized that Justified Accord 2025 is more than a mere training event; it serves as a crucial platform for collaboration, professional development, and trust-building among allied and partner nations. He highlighted that through rigorous staff planning, crisis response training, and joint execution, participants enhance their ability to operate effectively together. Major General Gainey underscored that the lessons learned from the exercise will not only contribute to the success of multinational operations but will also play a significant role in enhancing security and stability within each participating nation.

This year’s CPX exercise of the JA25 featured several ground-breaking initiatives which include, Public Affairs Academics, Defensive Cyber Operations Academics, Special Operation Forces Academics, Disaster Response (CBNR) Academics, Command Post Exercise, Canine Subject Matter Expert Exchange, Women Peace and Security familiarization programs, among others.

Later in the evening, the Netherlands Ambassador, Honorable Henk Jan Bakker together with the Chief of Training at the Defence Headquarters Brigadier Paul Koech, presented awards to the most remarkable participants in the CPX exercise of Justified Accord 2025 during the closing ceremony, recognizing their remarkable participation in class and overall contribution to the training.
