A two-day seminar for service personnel’s youth aged 13-21 years was held at Kenyatta Barracks, Gilgil, from 24-25 April 2025. Themed ‘Empowering the Next Generation’, the initiative aimed at mentoring the participants and preparing them for the contemporary society’s life challenges which call for resilient, purpose-driven adults.
Facilitated by KDF clergy, counsellors and education instructors, the seminar covered topics such as moral and spiritual guidance, promoting academic excellence, critical skills acquisition and development, nutritional health, sexually transmitted diseases as well as drugs and substance abuse, among others.
Colonel General Staff Western Command (Col GS WESTCOM) Colonel Dennis Obiero who graced the training, emphasized quality education as a fundamental investment for a promising future, encouraging them to pursue it to the best of their abilities.
He further underscored the importance of responsible technology use, particularly the new media platforms, as these are potential distractors even though they provide advanced capabilities for social networking and career development.
