HEAD OF PUBLIC SERVICE VISITS UHURU GARDENS

The Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Mr. Felix Koskei on 3rd December 2024 made a familiarization visit at the Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum (UGNM&M) in Nairobi.

He was received by Defence Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru, Principal Secretary in the State Department for Culture and Heritage Ms. Ummi Bashir alongside Director General of the Defence National Security Industries (DNSI) Maj Gen Bernard Waliaula and UGNM&M Director Brigadier Opiyo Oduor.

Hon. Koskei was taken through a brief of the facility especially on it’s critical role of collecting, preserving, researching on showcasing Kenya’s history and culture for posterity. He was also briefed on the capacity and capability of the facility and it’s profit projections once the Museum is open to the general public.

He then toured various galleries including the Hall of Fame, People’s of Kenya, Retired President Daniel Toroitoch Arap Moi, Founding President Ichaweri home, the Tomb of Unknown Warrior among others.

The Museum which is headed by the Ministry of Defence brings together various Agencies among the the military, National Police Service, National Museum of Kenya, Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Forest Service, Kenya Railways Corporation, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, Kenya News Agency, Kenya Coast Guard Service, Department of Citizen Service among others.

Hon. Koskei applauded the work and the rich history contained saying that once complete, it shall contribute heavily to the exchequer.
