HAITIAN PRIME MINISTER VISITS NDC
On October 11, 2024, His Excellency Dr. Gary Conille, Prime Minister of the Republic of Haiti, made an official visit to the National Defence College (NDC), a College of National Defence University-Kenya. He was warmly welcomed by Commandant NDC, Lieutenant. General Juma Mwinyikai, along with senior faculty and staff members.
During his visit, Prime Minister Conille delivered a lecture to participants of Course No. 27 of 2024/2025 academic year.
In his address, he expressed gratitude for Kenya’s continued support to Haiti, particularly in strengthening the rule of law and enhancing security. He acknowledged the vital role played by Kenyan security forces, who are part of the Multinational Security Support Mission, in contributing to Haiti’s stabilization efforts.
The Prime Minister stressed the significance of international partnerships and collective responsibility in addressing critical global issues such as climate change, terrorism, and transnational crime. He emphasized the need for coordinated global action to tackle these challenges.
Drawing from his extensive experience in policy, H.E. Dr. Conille encouraged course participants, hailing from 19 countries, to adopt a strategic and global perspective when addressing worldwide issues. He underscored the interconnected nature of contemporary security challenges, warning that localized issues can quickly escalate into regional or global crises. He called for collaboration and collective efforts to ensure peace and stability.
Prime Minister Conille was accompanied by Ambassador Dr. Monica Juma, National Security Advisor to the President, and Hon. Dr. Alfred Mutua, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
