The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating in Somalia under African Transition Mission in Somalia ATMIS, today 07 December 2022 were awarded AU medals of honour for their contributions to peace and stability in Somalia at Dhobley Forward Operating Base (FOB).
Sector two Commander, Brigadier Jattani Gula commended the contingent for executing their duties with courage and professionalism amidst difficult conditions, and for piloting various community initiatives to benefit the locals.
“You have been courageous in carrying out your tasks and this has helped in degrading threat posed by Al-Shabaab. The numerous life-saving and changing CIMIC activities have touched the lives of many. Today we celebrate your selfless service and cogratulate you for the job well done, “said the Sector Commander.
The Deputy Sector Commander, Colonel Joel Maiyo further saluted the Kenyan Contingent eleven (KENCON XI) for remaining mission ready, resilient and steadfast while implementing the ATMIS mandate to secure Somalia.
” We are awarding you these AU medals of honour for time, energy and sacrifice of your lives to bring peace and stability to Somalia. We will never forget your gallantry, bravery, sacrifice, and selflessness,” he added.
