On 18th March 2025, the Defence Headquarters Camp Administration Unit (DHQ CAU) conducted its Defence Forces Physical Readiness Test (DFPRT) at the Kenya Army Headquarters’ Ngao Garden Grounds.
The DFPRT is a standardized physical fitness assessment designed to ensure that military personnel maintain the necessary physical readiness to perform their duties effectively.
Commanding Officer DHQ CAU, Lt Col Wycliffe Barasa, emphasized the importance of such exercises, noting that training is essential for military preparedness. He urged participants to adhere to camp programs, stressing that they are an integral part of military discipline.
The DFPRT is conducted depending on the Defence Forces’ requirements. Each component of the test is scored, and personnel must meet a minimum standard to pass. The scoring criteria vary based on age, gender, and specific job requirements. To assist in preparation, personnel are provided with training programs to help them meet the required standards.
This fitness test ensures that military personnel are physically capable of performing their duties, which may include demanding physical tasks. Additionally, it promotes overall health and fitness, reducing the risk of injury and illness.
The DHQ CAU plays a crucial role in organizing and overseeing the DFPRT at the camp, ensuring that all personnel are adequately prepared and that the test is conducted fairly and efficiently. This contributes to the overall mission readiness and effectiveness of the Defence Forces.
