The outgoing Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Defence Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (Desacco) Colonel Nehemia Kemei has today handed over the office to his successor, Colonel Truphosa Omondi in a colourful ceremony held at the Sacco offices within the Defence Headquarters, Nairobi.
Col Omondi makes a comeback at the helm of the Sacco which she was the founder CEO between 2019-2020 before she was reassigned to the National Defence University – Kenya (NDU-K) in the Research Department.
In his farewell remarks, Col Kemei who led the Sacco since 2021 congratulated his successor on her appointment saying she has the requisite competency and capability to take the Sacco into greater heights.
“My successor was here before me and I have no doubt on her capabilities. I believe there is huge room for improvement and I urge her to serve with zeal in line with our mantra of ‘One Force, One Mission’,” said the outgoing CEO.
Col Kemei who is set to pursue other military duties noted that during his tenure, the Sacco received the license from the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA), expanded it’s membership and operationalized the Front Office Service Activities (FOSA).
Col Omondi thanked her predecessor for overseeing the exponential growth of the Sacco and presiding over various milestones among them improving financial literacy among the serving personnel, and increasing the products of the Sacco saying she shall build on the foundation of her predecessor.
DESACCO was founded in 2019 with the sole aim of improving the welfare of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) service personnel by providing them with an avenue to save and access funding at an affordable cost. Membership is open to both serving and retired military personnel and offers an array products including mortgage scheme and insurance services.
