Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale today engaged in bilateral discussions with the Japanese Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Okaniwa Ken, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Defence Headquarters, Nairobi.
CS Duale highlighted the longstanding cordial relations between Kenya and Japan, emphasizing the shared commitment to promoting global peace, stability and fostering trade and investment partnerships.
He mentioned the ongoing efforts between the two nations to establish a draft Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA), aimed at bolstering collaboration in defence and security. This includes plans for joint military training, disaster response, peacekeeping missions, and maritime security initiatives.
CS Duale also briefed Ambassador Okaniwa on Kenya’s endeavour to improve its capability to adapt and respond to evolving security challenges for instance in the Horn of Africa and the Western Indian Ocean region.
Additionally, the leaders explored potential areas for future cooperation that would mutually benefit the citizens of both countries.
