Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale hosted the Country Director for the United Nations World Food Program (UN-WFP) Ms. Lauren Landi who paid him a courtesy visit at the Defence Headquarters, Nairobi.
The CS reiterated the Ministry of Defence’s steadfast commitment to its constitutional duty of supporting and collaborating with civil authorities during emergencies and disasters to provide essential humanitarian aid.
Ms. Lauren commended the Ministry of Defence (MOD) for its laudable efforts in emergency and disaster response. She specifically noted the MOD’s pivotal role during the 2023 El-Nino rains in supplying and distributing food and supplies.
The two leaders engaged in discussions covering a wide array of collaborative efforts aimed at bolstering food security for sustainable socio-economic development. Additionally, they explored avenues for potential training and capacity-building initiatives for the benefit of communities.
During the discussions, Colonel Civil Military Operations and Operations Other Than War Shadrack Musau and the National Development Advisor at UN-WFP Mr. Felix Lones were present.
