Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale today held bilateral talks with the French Ambassador to Kenya, H.E Arnaud Suquet who paid him a courtesy visit at the Defence Headquarters, Nairobi.
The CS acknowledged that the French Government has been a key development partner to Kenya in a variety of sectors including energy, agriculture, education, roads and transport, owing to the strong bilateral ties the two countries enjoy.
He said, as a result, the two States have developed a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) which now awaits ratification by the National Assembly to broaden cooperation in the field of defence and security.
Hon. Duale informed the envoy that Kenya seeks to leverage this cordial relationship to have an elaborate partnership in maritime security, defence industries, counter-terrorism and counter-violent extremism.
During the discussions, the CS was joined by the Chief of Strategic Plans and Policy at the Defence Headquarters Brigadier Richard Mwanzia.
