CONCERTED EFFORTS TO END BANDITRY

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating under Operation Maliza Uhalifu in collaboration with Caritas and Health Wise Foundation held a series of Key Leadership Engagement (KLE) and Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities in the regions of Ol Moran, Riongo and Suguta Valley in a concerted effort to foster peace amongst the various communities in North Rift.

The three separate events brought together elders, youths, local leaders, church leaders and security apparatus who appreciated the multifaceted nature of the factors that contribute to banditry and thus requiring varied approaches to eradicate the menace.

Speaking during the meeting in Ol Moran Primary School where KDF distributed foodstuffs, water and held a medical camp, Officer Commanding Ngoisusu Forward Operations Base Major Benson Aguko noted that insecurity in the North Rift required concerted efforts from all actors in order to effectively address the insecurity.

Mr. David Mulatia, Director Health Wise Foundation through their initiative dubbed “add a room” noted that the well-being of the communities is key so as to better the livelihood.

Speaking in a meeting at Chesitet, Mr. Domongolol Kamasilag, an elder from Nadome implored in the elders and chiefs present not to hide criminals who have been disrupting the peace.

“Our communities have agreed to walk this path of peace. These few criminals should be given out to security for us to continue enjoying the prevailing peace,” Mr. Kamasilag added.
