COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE FOR PARTICIPATIVE SECURITY

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) organized a free medical camp (Medicamp) at Thika Makongeni Dispensary on October 8-9, 2024. This initiative, part of the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) program, aimed to strengthen the bond between the military and local communities, while serving as an outreach ahead of KDF Day celebrations on October 14 at Thika Garrison.

The event, graced by Commander of the Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Tarus, provided screening and treatment for over 600 residents, addressing common illnesses, dental check-ups, optical examinations, and emergency care. Lt Gen Tarus urged residents to seek medical help during the camp and emphasized the importance of peace and security collaboration between the community and national security agencies.

Kiambu County Director of Health, Mr. Hillary Kagwa, expressed gratitude to the KDF for their support and assured continued collaboration in future medical missions.

Additionally, Lt Gen Tarus visited the Kamagambo area to inspect the Gatundu-Munyu road rehabilitation project being carried out by the Kenya Army Construction Engineer Brigade.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Army Commander Major General Mohamed Nur Hassan, General Officer Commanding Eastern Command (GOC EASTCOM) Major General Luka Kutto, Combat Engineer Brigade Commander Brigadier Victor Mburu, Construction Engineer Brigade Commander Brigadier Joseph Mutua, Chiefs of Branches and Senior Officers.
