The Deputy Commander Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe, Colonel Wilberforce Murimi, presided over the graduation ceremony of the Basic Rangers Course 18/25 for financial year 2024/25 on 28 April 2025 at the Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe.
The Basic Rangers Course is a high-intensity and rigorous program designed to prepare military personnel for specialized operations and engagements. The curriculum focuses on leadership and command development. It involves training in tactical movement, close quarter battle drills, high-altitude training, and advanced combat tactics.
The three-month course drew participants from the Kenya Navy, Kenya Army, and Kenya Air Force, reflecting a joint-services commitment to enhancing operational capability, fostering interoperability and Esprit de corps among the services.
In his address, Colonel Murimi congratulated the graduates for their resilience, dedication, and steadfast commitment throughout the demanding training. He acknowledged the physical and mental challenges the participants had endured and lauded their ability to overcome adversity under extreme conditions.
“This journey has not been easy. You have been tested physically, mentally, and morally. You have endured exhaustion, faced uncertainty, and confronted fear, yet you never wavered. You have upheld the core values that define a ranger: courage, discipline, loyalty, and selfless service, and have come out better. Congratulations,” stated Colonel Murimi.
Present during the ceremony were Kenya Naval Training College Chief Instructor, Lieutenant Colonel Ernest Ndirangu, officers and service members.
