ACDF P&L HOLDS BILATERAL TALKS WITH PAKISTAN NAVY WAR COLLEGE DELEGATION

Assistant Chief of the Defence Forces Personnel and Logistics (ACDF P&L), Major General David Keter, hosted a delegation from the 54th Pakistan Navy Staff Course, led by Commodore Ehsan Ahmed Khan, at Defence Headquarters, Nairobi.

Major General Keter highlighted the strong and cordial relations between Kenya and Pakistan, rooted in historical ties dating back to the 1960s. These relations were further reinforced in November 2023 when the two nations negotiated a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA), which is currently under consideration.

He noted that Kenya and Pakistan have collaborated in various military engagements, including high-level leadership visits, regular port calls by Pakistan Navy ships in Mombasa, and military training programs. He emphasized the potential for further cooperation, particularly in the Defence Industry and Maritime sectors, once the DCA comes into effect.

Major General Keter expressed optimism about the partnership’s future, aligning with Kenya Defence Forces’ commitment to Defence Diplomacy in advancing national interests. He also highlighted opportunities for collaboration in areas such as military training and exercises, defence research and development, and cybersecurity.

Kenya and Pakistan, both members of the Commonwealth of Nations, share a commitment to promoting regional and global peace, security, and economic prosperity, despite challenges such as terrorism and border security.

The delegation, comprising two faculty members and nineteen course participants from the Pakistan Navy War College, is on a five-day study visit to Kenya.

Also present at the discussions was Brigadier Patrick Koech, Chief of Training Development, Establishment, and Equipment Tables at Defence Headquarters.
