MOD CONDUCTS BPR TRAINING TO ENHANCE SERVICE DELIVERY

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has conducted a five-day training on Business Process Reengineering (BPR) aimed at equipping its staff with critical skills to analyse and optimize execution processes for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.

The training brought together both civilian and military personnel from various departments, the three Services of the Kenya Defence Forces, units, and representatives from the Ministry’s affiliated Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs), including the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), Kenya Shipyards Limited (KSL), National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K), Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation (KOFC), and Kenya Meat Commission (KMC).

Facilitated by officers from the Public Service Transformation Department under the Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development, led by Dr. Florence Muinde, the training emphasized a holistic approach to improving ministerial processes. Participants were encouraged to challenge existing norms and adopt innovative solutions to enhance service delivery.

Speaking during the opening session, the Secretary of Administration, Mr. Isaac Masinde, on behalf of Defence Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru, expressed gratitude to the organizers and facilitators for their dedication. He acknowledged the value of their expertise in strengthening the Ministry’s operational efficiency.

Mr. Masinde highlighted the significance of BPR in driving national transformation by enhancing productivity, reducing cycle times, improving service quality, and increasing satisfaction for both employees and stakeholders. He also noted that BPR is a key focus area within the Digitalization Indicator of MoD’s Performance Contract.

Encouraging participants to maximize the training opportunity, Mr. Masinde urged them to apply BPR principles in their respective departments, emphasizing that the outcomes should be reflected in the Ministry’s operations.

By fostering a culture of continuous improvement, the Ministry of Defence reaffirms its commitment to modernizing operations and delivering high-quality services in line with national development goals.
