The Defence Forces Technical College (DEFTEC) recently held its annual Sports and Cultural Day at Moi Air Base (MAB), Nairobi, bringing together students, instructors, and service members in a vibrant display of physical fitness, teamwork, and cultural diversity. The event, graced by the Commander Kenya Air Force, Major General Fatuma Ahmed, aimed to foster unity, discipline, and holistic development among participants.
Participants competed in football, volleyball, athletics, tug of war, and cross-country, while cultural performances showcased Kenya’s rich heritage through traditional dances, music, and culinary exhibitions.
In her address, Major General Ahmed commended DEFTEC for organizing the event, emphasizing the importance of balancing physical fitness, academic excellence, and cultural appreciation in shaping well-rounded service members.
“I encourage all learners to continue cultivating their talents. Let this event serve as a reminder that through unity we can achieve great things beyond the classroom,” stated Maj Gen Ahmed.
The School of Mechanical Engineering (SME) emerged winners, with the School of Information Technology for Defence Systems (SITDS) finishing as first runners-up. The School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (SEEE) secured second runner’s up, while the College Admin Wing (CAW) came in fourth.
DEFTEC leadership reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing well-rounded professionals, underscoring the role of such events in promoting unity, teamwork, and the holistic development of future military technologists.
