DEFENCE CABINET SECRETARY TOURS KAHAWA GARRISON

The Cabinet Secretary (CS) Defence, Hon. Soipan Tuya, today visited Kahawa Garrison to familiarize herself with the operations of various formations and units based there, as well as their critical role in ensuring that Kenya Defence Forces personnel are well-equipped to carry out their duties effectively.

Accompanied by Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, the CS was received by the Garrison Commander, Brigadier Matthew Lenamunai.

In her address, CS Tuya commended the dedication and exceptional performance of the Garrison’s units in their respective fields. She acknowledged the pivotal role of the Garrison in supporting and sustaining KDF personnel, both in peacetime and during operations.

The CS’s remarks were echoed by CDF General Kahariri, who emphasized the importance of logistical efficiency in successful mission execution. He reiterated the Defence Headquarters’ commitment to supporting Kahawa Garrison by ensuring timely and adequate resources.

During the visit, CS Tuya toured several Corps, including the Kenya Army Corps of Signals, the Communication and Information System Maintenance and Innovation Centre (CISMIC), the Kenya Army Ordnance Corps, the Defence Forces Constabulary Headquarters, the Nairobi Regional Hospital, the Kenya Army Corps of Transport, and the Kenya Army Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. She was briefed on several innovative projects being undertaken within these units.

Also present at the visit were the Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Tarus, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics, Major General David Ketter, General Officer Commanding Eastern Command, Major General Luka Kutto, senior officers, officers and service members.
