CDF DINES WITH RETIRING AND RECENTLY PROMOTED OFFICERS IN OBSERVANCE OF MILITARY TRADITION

The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Robert Kibochi on 27th August 2021 hosted recently retired and promoted officers in a military ceremony ‘Dining in and Dining out’ at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.

The dinner event is a military tradition practiced over time where the officers don in respective mess kits depending on their services that is, the Kenya Army, the Kenya Air Force and the Kenya Navy.

Such military customs, traditions and ceremonies are held with reverence adhering to standard procedure and passed to successive generations.

The CDF noted that the dine in, dine out ceremony is an essential occasion to bid farewell to the outgoing officers as well welcome the newly promoted, appointed and posted in and out to various military establishments.

Among the officers who were dined out and issued with momentos included former Vice Chief of Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Levi Mghalu and former Commandant at the National Defence College Lieutenant General Adan Mulata. The other retired senior offices included Brigadier Simon Wachira, Brigadier Dickson Ruto, Brigadier George Walwa and Brigadier Chris Imanene who served for between 35-38 years.

The event was attended by service commanders, General officers and senior officers.
