MWAK VISIT TO KAHAWA GARRISON PRIMARY SCHOOL AND DFMH.

Today, differently-abled children at Kahawa Garrison Primary School benefitted from a donation of beadwork and weaving materials as well as sanitary supplies, first-aid kits and masks, courtesy of the Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK).

Led by the Chairperson Mrs. Tabitha Kibochi, the association donated the materials to aid the children in their learning activities.

MWAK Chairlady Mrs. Kibochi expressed her appreciation to the KDF fraternity for embracing the association and its role. She noted that this was the fifth handover of special equipment the association was doing since its establishment in January 2021.

“Today, we are demonstrating our commitment as partners, that the welfare of KDF personnel and their dependants is at the forefront of our mandate. We will endeavor to work together in developing solutions by using an all-rounded approach like personal contribution to support our differently abled children,” she said.

Base commander Kahawa Garisson, Brigadier Peter Sulubu urged all commanders at various levels to educate those under their command on the importance of enrolling their children with special needs to the military schools with the facility as they stand to benefit from the solid foundation that has been laid by the KDF and MWAK.

“I want to emphasize that early detection enables early correction and that disability is not inability.” He added.

Later during the day, MWAK members visited soldiers who are recuperating at the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital (DFMH) following the crash involving Kenya Air Force helicopter Mi 17 1E on Thursday, 24 June 2021.They encouraged the admitted soldiers and wished them quick recovery.

Present during the visit were Commandant (DFMH) Brigadier Godfrey Buluma, Moi Air Base Commander Brigadier Peter Githinji, Director Senior Medical Officer (DFMH) Brigadier (Dr) Charles Kingori, MWAK members, Senior Officers, Officers and Service Members.
