BISHOP CELEBRATES HOLY WEEK IN NAKURU

As Christians around the world marked Holy Week, the Bishop of the Military Ordinariate of Kenya, Rt. Rev. Wallace Ng’ang’a, undertook a spiritually enriching mission to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops based within Nakuru region.

His visits to the Kenya Military Academy (KMA) and 2 Brigade aimed at ensuring the officers, soldiers and their families could participate fully in the most important week of the Christian calendar as they prepare to celebrate Easter.

On Holy Thursday, bishop Wallace washed the feet of selected soldiers, echoing Christ’s example of servant leadership and reinforcing the message that greatness lies in service. In his homily, he emphasized the sacredness of the Church and the priesthood’s vital role in Christian’s spiritual life, encouraging the faithful to always offer prayers for their priests.

In observance of Good Friday, the bishop led KMA Catholic faithful to take part in a re-enactment of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and death. The procession typically features 14 stations, each representing a specific moment of Jesus’ passion, from his condemnation to his death on the cross.

During his Good Friday message, he urged the faithful to remain hopeful amidst trials, reminding them that the Passion of Christ ultimately points to love, redemption, and new life.

“We walk with Christ, even on duty, in uniform, even in operation areas, God meets us. The cross reminds us that victory often comes through sacrifice,” said bishop Wallace.

The bishop week-long journey highlighted not only the resilience and faith of KDF troops but also the Church’s unwavering commitment to accompanying its flock wherever duty calls them.

Holy Week is the most sacred and spiritually profound time in the Christian calendar. It is the final week of Lent and the week leading up to Easter Sunday, commemorating the final days of Jesus Christ’s earthly ministry, His Passion, death, and glorious Resurrection.
