KDF LED A MULTI AGENCY TREE PLANTING INITIATIVE AT KUBI DIBAYU CULTURAL CENTRE

The Kenya Defence Forces soldiers in Karare Forward Operating Base (FOB) on 17th April, 2025 led a multi-agency team in a tree planting exercise at Kubi Dibayu Cultural Centre in Marsabit County.

The tree planting exercise saw Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Kenya Forest Service (KFS), Kenya Prisons Service, National Police Service, Local Administration, and community members team up to plant over 1000 tree seedlings in support for national environmental conservation efforts.

The objectives of the exercise was to promote environmental sustainability through afforestation, enhance collaboration among security agencies and local communities, support government efforts in environmental rehabilitation within Marsabit County as well as foster a culture of environmental responsibility among local populace.

These noble efforts resonate with KDF’s commitment to Environmental Soldier Programme initiative which is geared towards environmental rehabilitation and conservation while strengthening community relations in the region.

The presence of the County Commissioner and Deputy County Commissioners, along with local residents, signalled strong community support for the initiative. The joint effort was well received, with local leadership commending the Kenya Defence Forces for their ongoing environmental contributions and leadership in multi-agency engagements.

The tree planting initiative at Kubi Dibayu Cultural Centre was a successful CIMIC engagement, demonstrating the KDF’s commitment to environmental preservation and inter-agency cooperation. It contributed to the national afforestation agenda and reinforced unity between the military, government agencies, and the local community.
