CATHOLIC CHURCH REENACTS THE WAY OF THE CROSS

Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Mtongwe, led by the Kenya Navy Chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel (Fr) Dalmas Simiyu, re-enacted the “Way of the Cross” also known as the Stations of the Cross at Kenya Navy Base (KNB) Mtongwe on 18 April 2025.

The “Way of the Cross” is a deeply rooted Catholic devotion that commemorates the suffering and death of Jesus Christ on the cross. It offers the faithful an opportunity for spiritual reflection and meditation on the Passion of Christ.

The Catholic community moved through fourteen devotional stations, each representing a significant event from the final hours of Christ’s life. Starting with His condemnation to death and culminating in His burial, participants recited specific prayers and meditated on the poignant moments of Christ’s journey to Golgotha and His crucifixion.
These fourteen stations served as a symbolic pilgrimage, with individuals progressing from one station to the next, each moment providing a profound opportunity for prayer and contemplation.

The event underscored the strength of collective faith, as participants united in devotion, deepened their spiritual reflection, and embraced the powerful symbolism of Christ’s journey. Through this shared experience, the community was reminded of the enduring importance of prayer, unity, and unwavering faith in the face of adversity.
