STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY BONDS THROUGH CIMIC

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating under Operation Amani Boni (OAB), tasked with securing the LAPSSET corridor, conducted a series of Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities in Garissa County. The initiatives targeted more than 300 households within the County to enhance community welfare and infrastructure.

The troops participated in construction of a new water pan at K221 Village, Improvement of Sheikh Hassan Dam, bush clearance which included enhancement of the water inlet at Eldere Village in Korakora Division GARISSA Sub County, in preparation for the anticipated April rainfall. All these initiatives are meant to alleviate the ongoing water shortage in the region as a result of drought.

Additionally, the KDF troops are in the process of constructing more water pans in Kamuthe area, Bura East Sub County to further improve water accessibility for the local communities.

Major Julius Ngolesia who oversaw the exercise thanked the community for their support noting that the success of the LAPPSET would benefit the locals now and future generations.

The local residents and the area leadership warmly welcomed these initiatives and pledged their full support for the ongoing LAPSSET projects, acknowledging KDF’s efforts in enhancing security and development in the region.
