Commander Kenya Navy, Major General Paul Otieno joined Kenya Navy Sailors in a Naval Physical Readiness Test (NPRT) held at the Kenya Navy Base, Mtongwe on 25 March 2025.
The NPRT is an annual physical fitness assessment aimed at evaluating the overall physical preparedness of Kenya Navy personnel. This test ensures that sailors are in peak physical condition, enabling them to effectively carry out the demanding roles and responsibilities required by the Kenya Navy.
These exercises are designed to assess how well sailors can perform in physically demanding situations, ensuring they are ready for both routine operations and emergency scenarios.
The Commander’s involvement not only motivated the sailors but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and unity, strengthening morale and reinforcing the shared commitment to the Kenya Navy’s mission.
Major General Otieno commended the commitment and dedication of the Kenya Navy personnel, highlighting the critical role physical fitness plays in the Navy’s overall success. He emphasized that while the NPRT is a routine assessment, it is the effort, determination, and resilience displayed during the exercise that truly reflects the Kenya Navy’s readiness.
Also present during the exercise were Deputy Commander Kenya Navy, Brigadier Sankale Kiswaa, Commander Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe, Brigadier Abraham Biwot, Commander Kenya Navy Fleet, Brigadier Mohamed Shemote, Chief of Naval Medical Services, Brigadier (Dr) Justino Muinde, senior officers, officers and service members.
