NAIROBI REGION KDF MUSLIMS OBSERVE GRAND IFTAR

The Nairobi Region KDF Muslims, in collaboration with the DHQ Muslim Community, observed the Holy Month of Ramadan with reverence and devotion on March 19, 2025. The Grand Iftar took place at the DHQ Islamic Centre, bringing together KDF Muslim personnel, their families, and non-Muslim colleagues in a celebration of unity and brotherhood.

During Ramadan, KDF Muslim personnel, like their counterparts worldwide, observe fasting from dawn (Suhoor) until sunset (Iftar), refraining from food, drink, and other physical needs as an act of spiritual discipline, self-reflection, and empathy. Fasting is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, emphasizing self-discipline and spiritual growth.

The Grand Iftar, a communal event was organized by the KDF, to mark the breaking of the fast at sunset. In accordance with the tradition of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the meal begins with dates and water, followed by a full course meal.

This observance highlights the KDF’s commitment to religious tolerance and cultural diversity, fostering a cohesive and inclusive military environment. It also provides an opportunity for non-Muslim personnel to learn about Islamic traditions, promoting mutual understanding and respect.
